Eastern Province

Eastern province is one of the 9 provinces of Sri Lanka.It consists three administrative districts.They are Trincomalee, Ampara,Batticaloa. Lagoons are stretch around the province’s coast.

The capital city of this province is Trincomalee.It famous because of the deep water natural harbour.Because of this harbour Sri Lanka has played a major role in international trading in ancient time.This trade path is called as “silk road”.

The Eastern province consists some of most beautiful beaches on Sri Lanka.Theses beaches are very suitable for Swimming, surfing and even for scuba diving.
some of these beautiful beaches are Nilaveli, Pasikudah, Kalkudah and Arugam Bay.Not only those beaches but also there are many more places can vist in this province.pigeon island, Konesvaram shrine,Digavapi stupa and moodu maha viharaya are some of this.

Fishing and agriculture are the main livehood of this province.
