Sports culture in Sri Lanka goes back to the past. Rural villages have sports called ‘Jana kreeda’, bonded with village culture. Elle, gudu and most of the water sports are included in the culture of villages. Those things spread love and peacefulness among the community. And also, it provides lots of enjoy to every young and elders. In past, people used to play such kind of games to release their tired and anxiety. Unfortunately, Jana Kreeda going to die out day by day nowadays.However, some of games play in the Sinhala and hindu new year which is held in April.

Angampora is a native traditional game in Sri lanka which has long history. Accordding to sinhala language ‘Anga’ means body and the ‘Pora’ means fight. Usually, Angampora known as hand to hand fighting without using any weapons. Here, fighters mainly focus on stricking and grappling techniques. But the component of Angam divided into three disciplines named gataputtu, pora haramba and maru kala. If any powerfull attack happen, it cause to damage the nervous system and as a result of that the guy who face to the attack can be permenantly paralysed or died. This game is a best exersice for whole body and also it is a good meditation.
