There is a great diversity of race and religions in SriLanka.There are mainly four types of religion that can be seen in Sri Lanka, Sinhala, Tamil, Bargar, and Muslims are them. a majority 0f the people in Sri Lanka are Sinhalese. also, there five main religions in Sri Lanka Buddhism, Islamic, , Catholic, and Christians. A huge population is Sinhala which believes Buddhism. Lord Buddha, the leader of the Buddhist
has prceeded three times to Sri Lanka. Indian emperor Dharmasoka’s son Mihindu thero took lead to bring Buddhism to Sri Lanka. In that time Devanampiyathissa king was the king who did regality. Royal family support to the mihindu thero because emperor Dharmasoka was the pen-friend of king Devanampiyathissa. It causes the spread of dharma all over the country.

Hindu population is mostly spread in north, eastern and central provinces. Hindu temple is the place Hindu people used to visit to worship. Traditional Hindu temples have Pusari who do the activities according to God. Mostly God Shiva and Goddess Kali are believed. Cow considers as a sacred animal in Hindu culture. And there is a festival called Thaipongal, they decorate their cows and do puja for it.

Islam is believing by Nabithuma who is the leader of Muslims. Arabic traders voyaged through the Indian ocean to do trading. They came to Sri Lanka and settled down here. Christians are the other religion and most of them are roman catholic. 70 churches can be seen around the country.
