Nuwara Eliya district is located in the hill country of Central Province. The terrain is generally mountainous, with deep valleys.
The rainfall in here is significant.  And The rainfall is around 2050 mm | 80.7 inch per year.

Hapugastalawa, Ambewela, Bogawantalawa, Haggala, Agrapatana, Kotmale, Ramboda, Watawala, Nuwara eliya,Maskeliya, Walapane, Ragala, Nanuoya and Laxapana are some of the cities.  And among them Nuwara eliya takes the major place. There has a good reflection of the colonial period. Even new hotels are furnished according to the colonial era.

Since the introduction of tea to Sri Lanka in mid 19th century this beautiful district has been the capital of the tea industry. Nuwara Eliya offers many activities for tourists including visits to tea plantations golfing, horse riding, boating, hiking and of course exploring the beauty of the landscaped gardens, waterfalls and plateaus.

There are many popular water falls around the town. Ramboda falls is formed by Panna Oya which is a tributary of Kothmale Oya.It is the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 729th highest waterfall in the world. And Laxapana falls is also sitiated in Nuwara eliya district which is the 8th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and 625th highest waterfall in the world. It is formed by Maskeliya Oya near the confluence of Kehelgamu Oya and Maskeliya Oya which forms Kelani River.

Nuwara eliya consider as the Little England and it is home for Horton plains which is famous for World’s end. This 3150 hectare plain is a major attraction to both locals and foreign tourists. Hortain plains is having rich biodiversity and can be seen many species and most of them are endemic
to Sri Lanka. Further, Hortain plains is a birth place for three major river in Sri lanka. Mahaweli, Kelani and Walawe are them.

On the other hand,when you are here you can see lots of deers. You can take pictures with them. Actually, horton plains is a pure natural gift that given by Gods.Finally, Nuwara eliya disstrict is the best place to visit to feel fresh environment.
