In ancient time galle was known as ‘Gimhanathiththa’ and ‘Gaala’.  This city is the best example to show fort field city that was built by Portuguese.  Now a days, it became a main photogenic area for weddings and preshoots because of its Portuguese architectural style.  Rumassala in Unawatuna is the other place both local and foreigners love to visit.

Galle district is one of the  major tourist capital in Sri Lanka. Once the Southern Expressway is built, we can see more of the local and foreign tourists in the Galle District. Beautiful beaches, colonial-era structures and their ruins
The district has become very popular due to the many attractions that are worth visiting.

Farming and fishing are the main livelihoods in here. As soon as Galle  say, the first thing that comes to mind is about the Dutch Fort. This was a great achievement by the Portuguese. even the Portuguese started construction, but the Dutch and the British completed the construction.  The fort is also a World Heritage Site.

Hikkaduwa is one of the major tourist attraction city. The city is famous for its beautiful coral reefs and beautiful coastline. Hikkaduwa has named as the second best country for surfing. Galle, Hikkaduwa and Balapitiya are some of the tourist attraction placess.
