Sri lanka is considered as a high water resource country. Ancient kings made tanks to collect rain water. They used those tanks in dry season. According to sri lankan history, King Pandukabhaya was the king who built first tank as water resources in Srilanka. He was built three butpresently only one tank can be identified. ‘Kala wewa’ is the biggest tank in Sri lanka and the deepest one is ‘Girithale wewa’. Using these kind of tanks, ancient people cultivated their paddy even in dry season. Sri lanka is a prosperous and verdant country.No more doubt about it, because man-made tanks are filled the main target of saving water and re-use water even withot any rainfall.

Adam’s peak is the mother of most of rivers like Walawe, Kalu and Kelani. Originating from Sri pada, Kelani river gently flows through Colombo which is very important to people around the city. Mahaweli river is the longest river in Sri lanka. It can be considered as the heart of Kandy. According to information, Mahaweli ganga starts at a remote village of Nuwara-Eliya District and reaches the Bay of Bengal.

Sri lankan waterfalls are spreaded through the up country while majestically flowing. Among all the waterfalls, Bambarakanda ella is
the tallest with 263m. It is situated in Badulla district and many hikers travel to the peak of the fall through the pinus forest. Camping on the top of the peak is allowed to get fresh breath and pictureque sights. Definitely it should be a memorable experience. Having the shape of sacred bo tree’s leaf, Bopath ella flows down slowly. It is one of the major tourist attraction which is surrounding with a virgin forest. Bopath ella is formed from Kuru ganga, a part of the Kalu ganga. There are so many beautiful waterfalls include Dunhinda ella, Diyaluma ella, Ravana ella and Ramboda ella as water resources in Srilanka.
