Badulla District is an agricultural district where tea, vegetable and paddy are cultivated. Badulla ditrict mainly devided into two parts called upperdivision and lower division. Upper is for cultivate tea and vegetable and the lower is for paddy. Nine arch bridge, best example for colonnical-era railway construction is most popular place among both locals and foreigners located in the Ella city in Badulla district. Badulla, Ella, Haputale,Welimada, Bandarawelaand, Passara, Diyathalawa and Mahiyanganaya are some cities in district and among them Badulla is a capital. In Badulla, the average annual temperature is 23.2 °C | 73.8 °F. The rainfall here is around 1885 mm | 74.2 inch per year.Furthermore, nature lovers feel the serenity of this place where tea plantation surroundings bring its mesmerizing appearance. The scenic beauty of this region enchants all visitors and so are splendid its parks, tea gardens, and historic locations that make it best suitable eco-tourist spot.
On one hand, there are many places around Badulla distrcit to visit. Muthiyanganaya Raja Maha viharaya is one of them. It is considered as one of the Solosmasthana, the 16 sacred places in the country. Lord Buddha had arrived to Sri Lanka three times after his Enlightenment. Muthiyangana is one of those 3 destinations. By the way, the Muthiyanagana templte becomes fully crowded with pilgrims and tourists on Poya Days, Because it isone of the important landmarks in this Buddhist country. Furthermore, Dunhinda falls is an another beautiful gift from nature. The name Dunhinda derived from the misty appearance in front of the waterfall during the rainy season. Waterfall is enriched with Uma Oya, Hal Oya and small rivers from Bandarawela and Welimada areas. Anyone can welcome at any time but the June and July period is the best to visit this delightful waterfall.
On the other hand, out of many wonderful locations in Sri Lanka, Demodara Railway Station remains a popular tourist attraction. The spiral railway is recognised as one of the most fascinating colonial railway civil engineering marvels in Sri Lanka. The glorious Nine Arch Bridge between Ella and Demodara station is an another major tourist eyecatching area in Ella. The beautiful nine arches make it a very picturesque spot especially as it is located in a dense jungle and agricultural setting. Behind the railway, a forest is booming and below, tea leaves are being cultivated.
