Sri Lanka is an Asian country that included many festivals for a year. Different religion celebrates differently. festival of Srilanka celebrates in the different time periods.

Sinhala and Hindu new year festival is the most popular festival which celebrates all over the country. Poin pedro to point dewundara
display as a same theme and do customs together on that day. Both Sinhala and Hindu people get ready for this festival since April first.
April is the season flowers are blooming and the harvest is ready. They bought new clothes and a clean house. Mothers and grandmothers prepare
sweets but they do not let to eat them until aurudu is coming. Kawum, kokis, asmi, aluwa are some of the aurudu sweets that takes especial part of the aurudu table. Every people in the island wear same color clothes according to the customs. However, aurudu season is most enjoyable and delicious festival of Srilanka.

Furthermore, Vesak is another festival that is celebrated by buddhist to commemorate Lord Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and parinibbana. Children make lanterns and pandals called thoran can be seen all over the country. Thoran illustrates the story of Lord buddha’s previous births. Vesak is colorful. On vesak poya day buddhist people observe sil and they go to the temple to worship.

Pongal is a tamil cultural festival which offer the first harvest to the gods and goddesses. They decorate their cows and do kolam artworks on their
compound. while exchanging some gifts among friends and family members, hindu people spread the love.

Hajji is celebrated by Muslim. On this festival day, muslim people give money to poorer families and they pray. Family members prepare their
special sweets like gulab jamun and they dress up in new clothes are the special parts in hajji.

Not only srilanka christmas is celebrated in all over the world. It commemorates the birth of baby Jesus. Christmas also colorful like vesak. Every christian houses are decorated by atleast colorful bulbs. Little children trust about the santa who give christmas gifts to them. When christians go to the church,they wear new clothes and they celebrate this festival while enjoying with their family members and friends.
