Kegalle mainly produces rubber and graphite. Coffee, cloves, peppers and cocoa are grown as a minor crop. The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is one of the most popular tourist attractions and is home to motherless elephants. The Wewaldenia Temple is one of the oldest temples in Kegalle.
