Sri Lanka has imposed a travel ban on passengers arriving from South Korea, Italy, Iran, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Netherlands and Austria. This list may be extended to cover more countries. Contact your airline or nearest Sri Lankan embassy or consulate to confirm the latest entry requirements.
* To drive in Sri Lanka, you need either an International Driving Permit (IDP) or a temporary Sri Lankan licence. Your IDP must be endorsed by the Automobile Association of Sri Lanka. Get your temporary licence from the Department of Motor Traffic in Colombo.
* Full moon (Poya) days are celebrated once a month. Authorities ban the sale and purchase of alcohol and fresh meat on these days.
* Pay close attention to the date your visa expires. You could receive a large fine if you overstay your visa.
